Spanish-American Iron Company 2-8-2 Locomotives in Cuba

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 60 (Locobase 12608)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 44, p. 276. Works number was 33593 in July 1909.

Less than two years after buying its second small Baldwin Mogul (Locobase 9758), Spanish American Iron returned to the Philadelphia builder for a locomotive twice its size. A Mikado of middling proportions, it nonetheless represented a big jump in hauling power for the SAI.

But bigger plans were in the works; see Locobases 9157 and 14
