Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 3 (Locobase 14389)

Data from DeGolyer, Vol 72, pp. 277+.Works number was 57790 in June 1924.. See Locobase 6689 for a description of this railway.

As the specifications indicated, this engine was derived from the 1923 0-8-2ST shown in Locobase 14388 and "as many parts as possible" were to be interchangeable. Its leading truck was a rarity for the CMC. One complaint that arose after delivery was the rapid hub wear. A "Hereafter" note recommended that driving boxes and engine truck boxes be made of cast steel and that all wheels have hard brass liners.

The 3 would later be preserved in a park at Guzelyurt (Morphou), but would not be tended to after the CMC suddenly closed in 1974 after the Turkish invasion divided the island in two.
