Danske Statsbaner 0-8-0 Locomotives in Denmark

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Q (Locobase 4030)

Data from William Bay, Danmarks Damplokomotiver (1977). Class information from []. [].

Frichs delivered 3 in 1930 (works 91-93) and 2 in 1932 (works 103-104). After an 11-year pause, production resumed in 1943 with 6 (works 320-325) and finished with 4 more in 1945 (works 342-345).

Gregersen of Danske Damploko reports that this 8-coupled was (as Google translates him) "...very powerful, but somewhat cumbersome and ponderous machine". Its max rated speed was only 30 km/h (19 mph). Its power most likely contributed to its longevity as a switcher (shunter, rangierlokomotiv) as the class served into the late 1960s.
