Zeeland 2-2-2 Locomotives in Denmark

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Odin (Locobase 3960)

Data from WilliamBay, Danmarks Damplokomotiver (1977).

According to the Danish Damplokomotiver hos DSB ([link]), Odins were typical Stephenson "longboiler" types (although in this case with a front carrying axle rather than a third driving set). Their names were Odin, Kjobenhavn, Sjaelland, Danmark, and Korsor.

Kjobenhavn and Korsor were scrapped in the early 1860s. The other three received new boilers in 1864-1866, the vessels being built in-country by Messrs D Lowener & Company. Now pressed to 100 psi (6.9 bar), the boilers had heating surface areas decreased to 704 sq ft (65.4 aq m) in the tubes and 56 sq ft (5.2 sq m) in the firebox, evaporative heating surface thus totalling 760 sq ft (70.6 sq m).
