Svendborg - Nyborg Banen 4-4-0 Locomotives in Denmark

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Af (Locobase 9504)

Data from J C Milling, "Railways and Locomotives in Denmark," Railway and Locomotive Engineering, April 1899, page 161.

Milling describes this engine as what "...may be called a typical Danish engine ...it is a smart little engine, and does the service required; but it has rather too much cylinder for the size of the boiler."

This quartet was delivered to the SNB with names: Tiselholt, +rkildhus, Nyborg, and Svendborg. In 1924, they were rebuilt by the SFJ, which was the leasing railway. Renumbered 19-22, the class remained in service on the SNB until 1949, when the DSB took over the SNB. The 19-21 were retired in 1952, the 22 in 1954.
