Ingenio Las Pajas 2-8-0 Locomotives in the Dominican_Republic

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 5 (Locobase 15362)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 78, p. 121+. Works number was 58656 in September 1925.

This sugar estate was located in the Hato Mayor Province, which is on the narrowing peninsula northeast of Santo Domingo. This Consolidation burned "broken anthracite coal" and was certainly one of the smallest of the wheel arrangement to operate on the metre gauge. Its spec noted that its design should be "readily" convertible to oil firing and the spec spelled out how the tender should be able to carry 2,000 US gallons (7,570 litres).
