Ingenio Porvenir 2-8-0 Locomotives in the Dominican_Republic

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Escarraman (Locobase 14484)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 54, p. 261. Works number was 42631 in October 1915.

Hugh Kelly owned the Ingenio Porvenir, the destination for this little plantation Consolidation. The specs said that it would be traveling on 25-35 lb/yard (12.5-17.5 kg/metre) rail, up 4% grades, and around curves with radii of 441 feet (134.4 m). Its appearance was typical for Baldwin plantation 2-8-0s: Radley & Hunter cabbage stack with a 14" diameter pipe (despite its coal fuel, sparks were still a concern) and wheels nested inside the frame.
