C.F. Franco Ethiopien 2-8-2 Locomotives in Ethiopia

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 421 (Locobase 9975)

Data from JP Crozet's Franco-Ethiopian Railway site, [link], last accessed on 21 February 2009.

These were examples of the US Army Transportation Corps' meter-gauge Mikados (Locobase 434) as built by one of the smallest US steam locomotive builders. They served the CFE until 1960, when they were replaced by diesels.

NB: The direct heating surface (including the firebox heating surface) is an estimate calculated by subtracting the calculated tube heating surface from the reported total evaporative heating surface.
