Francaise des Metaux de St Denis, CIE 0-4-0 Locomotives in France

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 14586)

Data from DeGolyer, Vol 57, pp.107+. Works numbers were 44288 in October 1916 and 45551 in May 1917.

The French industrial customer's railway featured 2.6% maximum grades combined with a curve radius as tight as 150 metres (492 feet) that ran for 50 metres (164 feet). The firebox burned French briquettes for steam that was admitted to the cylinders through plain D valves actuated by Marshall valve gear. (This was a modification of Timothy Hackworth's gear devised by James Thompson Marshall.)
