Bourges-Gien 0-6-0 Locomotives in France

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 15514)

Data from SACM diagram Nr. 110 from Societe Alsacienne de Constructions Mecaniques from locomotive book supplied by Dany Machi up at [link] as

Diagrammes des machines SACM construites a GRAFENSTADEN (October 2007).

Tube diameter is the interior measurement.

Locobase is working only from the diagram and the database, but everything about this locomotive suggests Bourbonnais, the widely produced six-coupled that would be built in the hundreds. Two key similarities are the cylinder volume and the wheelbase, which are identical to a PLM class shown in Locobase 599. Several other important dimensions and weights are almost the same.

The Bourges a Gien ran north-south about 160 km (100 miles) east of Tours. A well-known viaduct was built across the Loire at Gien in 1888-1893. This locomotive likely was delivered in the 1870s.
