Cambrai au Catillon 0-6-0 Locomotives in France

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 9237)

Data from A. Sampite, Les Chemins de Fer a Faible Trafic en France (Paris: Baudry et Cie, 1888), p. 49 . See also [link] for a history of these Freycinet Plan railways.

Sampite reported that this quartet was giving "excellent service" and could, "sans danger pour le mechanisme", attain 30 km/h. They did not have originally have whistles, as the noise was thought to scare horses. At the time of Sampite's writing, designers were developing a whistle with a deep tone like that of a steamship.
