Data from Albert Jacquet, "'Engerth'" Locomotives on French and Belgian Railways", Locomotive Magazine, Volume XXVIII [28] (15 April 1922), pp. 104-106. Works num bers were 315-320 in 1857.
Although the PLM bought only the one Engerth locomotive described in Locobase 6851, an earlier railway serving the Dauphine region bought six six-coupled goods locomotives that put part of the weight on the tender's leading axle. As in most Engerths, grate and firebox areas seem very small for the boiler's size.
They hauled trains on the St Rambert-Grenoble line and joined the PLM's roster when that larger railway acquired the smaller line and continued as local goods locomotives in the Savoy and Dauphine divisions.
