Demoulin observes that placing a trailing axle on a Bissel truck under the firebox and bunker improved the stability of these engines, which were based on the 3001 0-6-0T and used the boiler of the well-known Mammouth 0-6-0 tender locomotives. These had a Belpaire firebox.
