According to the production list of Friedrich Krupp AG, Essen, this eight-coupled side tank was ordered by Westmark Industrie GmbH of Aachen, Germany. After test pits sunk in 1900-1908 showed a promising deposit of coal in the recently regained province of Lorraine in eastern France, the Societie formed in 1920 to exploit it.

Actual work began in 1930 to set up the infrastructure and this sturdy engine supported it. Four years later, the ten-coupled tank described in Locobase 21266 joined it.
