Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class G16 / 151A (Locobase 13351)

Data from "Locomotives Type 151A.A & L (G16)" supplied by "papyglob" on 20 July 2011 to the Les Trains de l'Histoire blog at [link], last accessed 2 November 2011.

Perhaps aspiring to the same impressive levels of tractive effort as the 151As of the PLM (Locobase 2503), the two engines of the Alsace-Lorraine came a few years later and had three large simple-expansion cylinders and smaller drivers. The firebox had a combustion chamber and a CAIP feedwater heater, ACIF water-treatment system, and Kylchap double-chimney were fitted. The rear bissel truck held a booster that assisted starting effort until the locomotive had reached 30 km/h (18.6 mph).
