The Sud operated this double-ender on very light, 25-kg/m (50-lb/yd) rail. Its tonnage rating came to 75 tonnes up a 2.8% grade. The side water tanks rode "a little ahead" ("un peu en avant") of the drivers while the coal bunker was located behind the footplate.
