Est 2-8-2 Locomotives in France

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 141.TB (Locobase 5109)

Data from [link], supplemented by "New Tank Engines of the Eastern Railway of France", Railway Engineer, Volume 34, No 8 (August 1913), pp. 236-23

Bonnin describes this locomotive as typically Est. It had a Belpaire boiler, 21-element Schmidt superheater. The data refer to that variant--4402-4512. 4401 used the Mestre superheater

As late as 1957, the SNCF still had 102 141.TBs in service. In 1962, the surviving 74 replaced the 131 TBs, offering a boost in train weight from 330 to 440 tons. By the end of 1969, however, steam service on the V line had ended and the 141.TB was retired.
