These Mallets opened the service on the Lozere-Vivarais line on 8 August 1909, as noted on the account of the inauguration, [link] . A photograph shows a tidy design with Belpaire firebox, dome over the front engine, tanks running forward to end just behind the stack.

The railway is headquartered at Tournon in the Ardeche, a part of the Rhone Valley.
