Grand Ceinture Beyer-Garratt Locomotives in France

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 6001 (Locobase 3258)

Further exemplars of the du Bousquet-Meyer type. See Nord entry for more details. Weiner (1930) notes they burned 93 lb of coal and consumed 63 1/2 gallons of water per train-mile pulling trains averaging (in 1914) 577 tons. They were superheated in the 1930s and later transferred to the CF de l'Etat (which was folded into the SNCF in 1938) and operated until 1949. They were replaced by 151 TQ Santa Fe tanks (Locobase 2468).
