Class 01 (Locobase 15617)

Data from diagram No 05, Societe Alsacienne de Construction Mecaniques from SACM locomotive book supplied by Dany Machi up at [link] as

Diagrammes des machines SACM construites a GRAFENSTADEN (October 2007). Works numbers were 3824-3825 in 1887.

The French-language diagram described this German railway (won in the 1870 Franco-Prussian War) Elsass-Lothringen subsidiary as the "Tramway de Strasbourg". The line began as a horse tramway in 1877 and, presumably, these small tanks were the first steam engines. They were not "dummies" (i.e., they looked like small locomotives) but had a large window in the rear wall of the cab to permit bi-directional operation.
