Class C110 (Locobase 4931)

Data from Joachim Biemann's website [link] (December 2001), later linked to [link], last accessed 17 October 2022.

Biemann explains that Humboldt built these 42-tonners on spec, which meant they were available on short notice for a variety of railroads. Earlier C102s had small side tanks, while the C110s traded coal bunkerage for additional water capacity. (Note: Heating surface is given from the water side; fireside HS was 997 sq ft)..

Those delivered to Cologne-area KFBE as 9-17 were delivered in batches of 6 (Works #715-720) in 1911-1912 and 3 (Works #952-954) in 1913-1914. In the mid-1920s, several more were added with 14 operating on the KFBE at one time. Gradually these were sold off over the next decade and a half. That attrition, together with war damage, reduced the stud to 4 and these were sold between 1946-1951.
