Altensteig, Berneck, and Ebhausen served the 15.1-km narrow-gauge line south of Pforzheim The design included the Klose kinematic linkage, which allowed considerable play in the inner two axles and drove the end axles through a linkage from the third axle. The Wikipedia editor comments that, as with other Klose installations, the concept worked well, but required a good deal of maintenance.

Esslingen delivered the three over 8 years in 1891, 1892, and 1899. All remained in service until the DRG assumed control of the narrow-gauge line, at which point they were classed as BR 99 17. The last was retired in 1931.
