Bavarian State 2-2-2 Locomotives in Germany

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class A (Locobase 5915)

Christian Lindecke [link] (visited 12 December 2003) for data.

Based on the K.Bay.Sts.B's A V Roth, the display engine for the 1853 Munich exposition, this class were relatively small engines with a light load on the drivers. Lindecke says other railways had already increased adhesion to 15 metric tons (33,070 lb) or more. Perhaps because these were so light on the drivers, they were soon (1871) converted to Class B 2-4-0.s.
