Prussian State 2-6-2 Locomotives in Germany

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class T6 (Locobase 6347)

Data from Christian Lindecke data from [link] (14 Nov 2004).

The only Prussian Prairie tank and overpowered by a wide margin, it seems, even for the duty of quickly accelerating trains on the Berlin Metropolitan line. The outside cylinders drove on the middle coupled axle, while the inside cylinder cranked on the leading coupled axle. The leading guiding axle used Adams radial boxes while the trailing carrying axle rode in a Krauss radial design. Each axle had 40 mm (1 1/2") of lateral play to each side.

According to a table in [link] (14 Nove 2004), which displays some of the context of a detailed study of the laenderbahns, the 3-cylinder layout didn't last long. By 1908 the 12 locomotives in the class had been converted to a 2-cylinder design.
