Sturdy mixed-traffic locomotives with Krauss-Helmholz trucks that were the last new steam locomotive design to appear in West Germany.

[link] (a German steam locomotive parts supplier) gives the normal steaming capacity as 9,000 kg/hr. They were rated as capable of hauling a 440-short ton passenger train up a 2% grade at 80 kph.
