They were Cramptons with the drivers trailing the Belpaire firebox. Both carrying axles were suspended from the frame rather than riding in a bogie. Later engines of a 2-2-2 arrangement arrived in 1859.

Starting in 1869, the Regensburg shops reversed the wheel arrangement, creating B-class 2-4-0s and doubtless improving the adhesive weight.
