Class Group XVIII H/BR 18.0 (Locobase 4068)

Data from US Military Railway Service Equipment Data Book -- German Locomotives supplied from the extensive collection of Allen Stanley (March 2004); and "Baureihe 18.0" in Albert Gieseler's Dampfmaschinen und Lokomotiven at [link], last accessed 21 October 2022. Extremely handsome Pacifics, this small group operated out of the Dresden shed for most of their locomotive lives. The Brimalm modelling website commented that these engines successfully blended South German and Prussian design practices.

This included absorption by the Reichsbahn in the early 1920s, survival (by 9 of the 10) of World War II, and premier express duties on the East German (Deutsches Reichsbahn) railway system until the early 1970s.
