British Gypsum 0-4-0 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Hilda (Locobase 8022)

Data from Great Central Railway's website's listing of the museum road's locomotives -- [link], accessed 22 December 2006. Works number was 1963.

This saddle-tank was delivered to Caferata of Newark (a site soon to be bought by British Gypsum). Beacon Hill Plaster Works later owned Hilda and sold her in December 1971 to Ray Bailey & David Kemp. Restoration work was delayed for over two decades, only beginning in 1996.

The website's data is confusing. They show Hilda as having a tube area of 180 sq ft and firebox of 294 sq ft. Locobase believes the latter figure should be 29.4 sq ft, although the resulting ratios seem out of whack.
