Hunslet Engine 0-4-0 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Quarry (Locobase 8600)

Data from [], which offered new Quarries for sale in 2006. The company name applies to the Hunslet Steam Company at Statfold Barn Farm, Tamworth, Staffordshire, B79 0BU

This design is identical in almost all respects to the Small Quarry engine as long as 125 years before. Boiler pressure has been raised and the weights had grown (when do weights ever go down, Locobase wonders?), as had the price. The 2007 list price was 130,000 LBS (192,000 euros, $260,000).

The company claimed that their demonstrator - Jack Lane (works #3904) was very popular at the 2007 Railtex Exhibition and was for sale. The other locomotive was named Statfold (works #3903)..

Ratings published as part of the brochure included:

Min. Horizontal Curve Radius Negotiable 6.4 m - 21 ft

Max. Trailing Load on Level Track 160 t - 157.5 Tons

Max. Trailing Load up a 1:100 Gradient (1%) 80 t - 78.7 Tons

Max. Trailing Load up a 1:50 Gradient (2%) 45 t - 44.3 Tons
