Colne Valley & Halstead 0-4-2 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 1 (Locobase 16071)

Data from"Locomotives of the Colne Valley & Halstead", The Locomotive, Volume 17 (15 September 1911), p. 197-198. Works number was 2204 in 1877.

Noting that the CV&H leased passenger power from the Great Eastern, the railway's locomotive superintendent ("Mr Fenn") ordered a backup from Neilsons. The design was built "to practically the same drawings as the 81 on the GER."

The 1 was overhauled by Hawthorn, Leslie in 1888, a project that included adding two supplementary front tanks, modifying the cab, and painting the locomotive deep red.
