Thetford & Watton 0-4-2 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 6 (Locobase 20042)

Data from "Locomotives of the Great Eastern", Locomotive Magazine, Volume 17 (15 May 1911) p. 99-100. Works numbers were 2595-2596 in 1876.

Although these two were the largest of the T&W locomotives, they showed a toy-like appearance through an oversized cab and relatively tall drivers that dminished the boiler's apparent dimensions.

The 6 & 7 served the Bury St Edmonds-Swaffham section. After their lease to the Great Eastern and renumbering to 806-807, the engines were rebuilt by the GER's Stratford Works with Westinghouse brakes and Ramsbottom safety valves. Renumbered again in 1886, the 0806 was scrapped in December 1890 and 0807 a year later.
