Class 2 (Locobase 8599)

Data from [link], accessed 29 July 2007. Works number was 1026.

This locomotive was the younger, larger stable-mate of the WHR's #1, another Barclay product described in Locobase 8598. Although the higher boiler pressure more than offset the diminution in tractive effort created by taller drivers, the locomotive weighed little more than the smaller saddle-tanker. It continued operating on the WHR until 1952, when it was scrapped.
