Class G10 (LNER) (Locobase 5909)

Richard Marsden's LNER site -- [link] (Jan 2004) for data.

Fitting in with most other British 0-4-4T designs, this nonet was introduced by James Johnson for Aberdeen service. From 1916-1922, a rebuild put new boilers on all of the class. In the 1923 Grouping, they were reclassified G10 by the LNER.

The locomotives remained on that duty until it was eliminated in April 1937, after which most were quickly retired (6 in 1937, 1 in 1939, and the eighth in 1940). One escaped notice and continued as a helper engine at Inverurie until 1947.
