Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast 0-4-4 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class C / G3 (Locobase 5904)

Data from Richard Marsden's LNER site -- [link] (Jan 2004).

In the 10 years between their purchase by the LD & EC and that railway's absorption into the Great Central Railway, these were the passenger locomotives on the line and operated primarily between Lincoln and Chesterfield.

Neither the GCR nor the LNER, when the latter was created in the 1923 Grouping made substantial changes to the class. By this time all but one were operating in the Sheffield area. The sixth was in Ardsley and was withdrawn first in 1931, followed by the other 5 over the next four years.
