Great Yarmouth & Stalham Light Rwy 0-6-0 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Ormesby (Locobase 20872)

Data from P C D [P C Dewhurst?], "The Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway and its Locomotives", Locomotive Magazine, Volume 27 (15 April 1921), pp. 107-108. Works numbers were 333 and 338 n 1877.

These saddle tanks--Ormesby and Stalham--were delivered to the GY&SLR. After a few years that railway was absorbed by the Eastern & Midlands in 1883. The E & M evolved into the Midlands & Great Northern Joint Railway in 1894 and finally the LNER took over the M & GN in 1936.

The Ormesby had been sold long since (in 1901) to a colliery in the North of England.. The second of the class -- Stalham -- remained in service for 60 years; see Locobase 5895.
