Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 14 (Locobase 10514)

Data from "Locomotives of the Wrexham, Mold & Connah's Quay Ry," The Locomotive Magazine, Vol XI (15 May 1905), p. 112. Works number was 1105.

The builder of the Liverpool & North Wales bought this locomotive to support construction. As often happened, the contractor sold off such small tanks to railways looking for inexpensive shunters (switchers). So in 1895, the Wrexham, Mold & Connah's Quay Railway bought the Johnson locomotive, numbered it 14, and put it to work in the railway's goods yard at Wrexham.
