Manchester Ship Canal 0-6-0 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 14 (Locobase 4538)

Obviously a successful design for its intended purpose, this engine served the Canal for 65 years. Its venue included very sharp curves, so the engine's front driving axle moved laterally and the center axle's drivers were flangeless. Richard Drew's photo ([link]) shows a classic late 19th-century tank engine. In the 1990s, this image was enhanced when the preserved #14 was repainted blue and decorated with the face of Thomas the Tank Engine.
