Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 736 (Locobase 10591)

Data from "Steam Rail Motor Coaches", The Locomotive Magazine, Vol XII (15 November 1906), p. 186.

Like the 1903 version, this rail motor design featured the water-tube firebox design designed by Dugald Drummond. The firebox had 73 sq ft of heating surface and the 99 water tubes contributed an additional 119 sq ft

Unlike the 1903 motors, however, Drummond specifically designed this engine as a detachable power unit. Its outside cylinders drove on the bogie's rear wheels. The coach portion were of the vestibule and came as a double set. That is, the assembly had a stubby locomotive and two cars coupled through a central connection. The near car had 49 non-smoking seats and 16 smoking seats. The rear car had a guard's and luggage compartment, 32 non-smoking seats, and 16 smoking seats.
