Unspecified 2-2-2 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 8456)

Data from John Bourne, CE, Recent Improvements in the Steam-Engine (London: Longmans, Green & Co, 1880), p. 236.

Bourne did not indicate if this locomotive was intended for service anywhere and its data do not match up precisely with any Single then in service in England. The accompanying illustration shows no railway markings, either. Springs mounted over the frame suspended the leading carrying axle. Likewise, the single driving axle had springs over the axle. The drivers were enclosed by open-work splashers.

Crew protection had progressed from a simple vertical weatherboard ahead of the crew to include an inclined overhead panel.over about 1/2 of the footplate.
