Data from "New Engines on the East and West Junction Ry," The Locomotive Magazine, Vol XIII (15 February 1907), pp. 30. Works number was 4495.
This single passenger locomotive resembled the goods engines that Beyer, Peacock began building for the E & WJ Ry at the same time; in fact, the first goods engine followed immediately after the 13 in the production line. It was a stubby, upright locomotive that perhaps surprisingly lasted in service long enough to be numbered 290 in the LMS upon Grouping in 1923.
