Furness 2-4-0 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class E1 (Locobase 9914)

Data from Sekon, G A (George Augustus Nokes), The Evolution of the Steam Locomotive (1803 to 1898), 2nd Edition (London: The Railway Publishing Co., 1899), p. 313.

This relatively small locomotive was the new thing in passenger power for the Furness when it entered service. Obviously it served the purpose because the railway added 18 more over the next 9 years. Seven of the class were converted to J1-class 2-4-2 tank engines in 1891.
