Data from "Some Notes on the Stratford-upon-Avon and Midland Junction Ry (formerly East & West Ry)," The Locomotive Magazine, Volume 17 (15 December 1911), p. 268. See also Anthony Burton, John Scott-Morgan, The Light Railways of Britain and Ireland (2015), Chapter 5: Out in the Country (Moorland Press, 1985, reprinted by Pen & Sword).
In discussing the motive power of the SuA&MJ , LM described a small Yorkshire Engine tank originally delivered to the unusually named Welsh railway shown in the specs.
Burton and Scott-Morgan's description of the "Pott" includes the observation that building another railway to compete against the big lines into Shrewsbury could be sid to be "Potty". And they lay out the case by noting how quickly the railway drifted into insolvency.
It's not clear when the PS&NW bought the Hope, but it seems to have delivered in the 1860s. It was sold to the Stratford ... at auction in 1888, but had a short career before being disposed of in 1895.
