Rhondda & Swansea Bay 2-4-2 Locomotives in Great_Britain

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 17 (Locobase 10336)

Data from "Rhondda & Swansea Bay Ry," The Locomotive Magazine, Vol VIII (13 June 1903), p. 405. Works numbers were 3581-3583. i 1895.

A sketch of the R&SB is presented in 10335. Here Locobase notes that these passenger tanks offered decent size and power for their requirements. In fact, they shared all basic dimensions and weighed nearly as much as the 0-6-2T radial tanks described in 10335.

Unlike the 0-6-2T radial tanks, however, the passenger trio found no home in the grouped Great Western Railwy that operated ex-R&SB locomotives beginning in January 1922.
