Anatolian 2-8-0 Locomotives in Greece

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 8947)

Data from Albert H Bone, "Some Recent Designs of Locomotives for Service on Continental Railways", Cassier's Magazine, 1910, pp. 570, 604.

A knuckle-dragging Consolidation, this design was built to haul "big loads up long gradients." Although it was limited to an axle-load of 13.3 tons (29,792 lb), the engine could put more weight on the rail by filling a tank located in the engine's frame with water drawn from the tender. At that point, total adhesion rose to 58.5 tons (131,040 lb). Radial traverse on the pony truck and 1/2" play on the second and fourth driving axles improved the locomotive's ability to negotiate curves.
