Truxillo 4-4-0 Locomotives in Honduras

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 11 (Locobase 15060)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 66, p. 64. Works number was 56329 in March 1923.

A Hereafter summary from RK Johnson to H Gleaneer dated 2 August 1923 noted desired changes in later locomotives such as reinforcing the front frame rails "as much pushing is done". Another point: "Do not use rubber hose between engine and tender for oil heater as it does not last long." Another oil-firing related noted concerned the hole in the firebox: "Make hole ...longer, so as to have more air space and room to adjust the oil burner at any angle."

Eddystone was to take more care in "setting valves for foreign service". Since United Fruit could hand any one package up to 23 tons weight, the builder was not to "strip down any more than is needed."
