East Indian 0-6-0 Locomotives in India

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 2681)

Data from "Six-Coupled Goods Locomotive, E I Ry," The Locomotive Magazine, Volume VIII [8] (6 June 1903), p. 390.

As was the case of the 1893 4-4-0s (Locobase 2680), these were designed by AW Rendell.

Class unknown (Locobase 20892)

Data from "Six-Coupled Tank Locomotive, East Indian Railway," The Locomotive Magazine, Volume XXVIII [28], No. 380, (15 August 1922).

A small side-tank shunter was built "to the specfication and inspection" of the EIR's consulting engineers Rendel, Palmer & Tritton. It had a relatively large boiler and grate for an 0-6-0T and had plenty of weight to press on the rails. Its combination of slide valves and outside radial Walschaert valve gear was also unusual.
