Rohilkund-Kumaon 0-6-0 Locomotives in India

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class F (Locobase 20788)

Data from "Metre Gauge Goods Locomotives Rohilkund-Kumaon Railway", The Locomotive Magazine, Volume XXVI [26] (13 March 1920), p. 62.

As noted in Locobase 10180 for the O-class passenger engines, this goods locomotive design was a standard for most metre-gauge railways of the time. The program which continued for almost 50 years (1874 to 1922) saw over 1,000 engines built (see Locobase 3039).

Unlike the passenger engines, however, F goods locomotives had inside plate frames and inside valve motion serving outside cylinders. These had Belpaire fireboxes. RK's septet was part of a 20-engine order; see Locobase
