Braithwaite & Co 0-8-0 Locomotives in India

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class unknown (Locobase 20957)

Data from "Contractor's Locomotives for India", Locomotive Magazine, Volume XXIX [29], No 370 (15 July 1923), pp.159-160. Works numbers were 15952-15953 in February 1922, 15954-15957 in March, and 15958 in April.

LM reported that this septet supported construction of the 30-mile (48 km) Tansa water main for the Bombay Municipality. Fowler responded to a specification that addressed "heavy gradients" among other challenges.

Clearly rolling on light rail, this designed bulked smaller than many of the skinny-gauge eight-coupled tanks engaged in similar service.
