Class 203 (Locobase 7511)

Data from 1946 Beyer, Peacock catalogue hosted on Martyn Bane's website at [link] (accessed 21 May 2006).

Batch #02371 (works# 6173-6177) (Production data from The Beyer, Peacock production list -- [link], last accessed 29 May 2006).

Low-drivered "general-purpose" tank engine with long side tanks and bulky Belapaire firebox. The tanks measured their full height over the last three drivers while the tank over the leading driver set had the lower third cut away. (Locobase supposes this was a weight-concentration measure for those parts of the journey where water was getting low and sloshing was to be avoided.)
