Data from "Six-Wheels Coupled Bogie Express Locomotive, Great India Peninsual Ry", The Locomotive Magazine,Vol X (15 April 1904), p. 64.
Design of these powerful Ten-wheelers was credited to the GIPR's locomotive superintendent S J Sarjant, a consulting engineer (Sir George Bruce), and to the builders. The Belpaire firebox and large grate are particularly noticeable, although the total heating surface may not have been sufficient to supply adequately the engine's cylinder volume.
